Information for Bequests and Wills

You can bequeath:

1. The remainder or "residue" of your estate (what's left over after your other bequests).
2. Your entire estate, or
3. A percentage of your estate, or
4. A specific dollar amount or specific assets, or
5. A contingent bequest that passes to the Holmes County Education Foundation in the event your primary beneficiary predeceases you.

Sample Language for Including the
Holmes County Education Foundation in Your Will

I (we) hereby give and bequeath to the Holmes County Education Foundation located at 114 N. Clay St., Millersburg, Ohio, 44654, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization, the sum of $___________________ or _______% of my estate or _______________________________to be used for the following purpose: ____________________________________________________________

Codicils and Amendments

If you do not want to rewrite your will you can still remember the Holmes County Education Foundation by using a Codicil to your will or an Amendment to your trust.  Usually the cost for doing this is significantly lower than writing a new will or trust.

The Internal Revenue Service has designated the Holmes County Education Foundation a charitable non-profit organization or 501(c)(3) organization. Our Federal Tax ID number is 34-1631041.

Independent Counsel: All donors are encouraged to seek independent financial and legal counsel when executing wills, trusts, contracts and other agreements. The Holmes County Education Foundation will provide information and assistance to donors; however, the ultimate responsibility regarding evaluations, tax deductibility, and/or similar legal local, state and/or federal compliance issues rests with the donor and/or such counsel as the donor may wish to secure.
